Creating a Global Impact on Renewable Energy Technology Development and Workforce Training

San Diego State University (SDSU) is leveraging a combination of experience, academic integrity, research facilities and natural resources to create a multi-departmental testing, commercialization and workforce training facility on their existing SDSU Brawley campus in Imperial Valley.

Recognizing the need for a multi-pronged approach to renewable energy generation technologies’ most challenging obstacles, the Jobs Accelerator Project will establish a site for performing commercial-scale, proof-of-concept demonstrations and targeted technical training curricula to create high-wage, cleantech jobs and expand the pipeline of financial and intellectual capital from San Diego and other cleantech hubs.

Funded in part by the US Department of Labor, and the San Diego Economic Development Association, the Jobs Accelerator and Innovation Project will focus on support for individuals who have lost their jobs or are in danger of losing their job due to foreign trade through priority access and customized training and certification in renewable energy technologies through SDSU IV, IVC and SDSU’s College of Extended Studies. The project will also provide needed small business development support and services such as training, mentoring, consulting and funding to produce and fast-track deployment of new systems and technologies for the Imperial Valley.
